Hans Nielsen Hauge

Hans Nielsen Hauge (1771-1824) was a Norwegian pastor renowned for beginning the Haugean Revival, a religious movement rooted in pietism and lay preaching that pushed back against rigid, formal Norwegian Lutheranism. A prolific author, Hauge wrote 33 books even though he spent over 10 years in prison for his beliefs.
