Includes journal of great grandfather's journal, Thor Helgeson, and several pages of genealogy. Thor Helgeson immigrated to the United States in 1862 at the age of 20. Initially Thor went to the Muskego settlement, Racine County, Wisconsin, and taught school. By 1864 he moved to New Hope in Portage County and remained for 25 years. He married Syverine Jensdatter Voldengen in 1867. In 1869 Thor purchased a farm in Iola, Waupaca County, Wisconsin.
